Marriage and Family Therapist Graduate Student Intern
In our lives, we carry a variety of burdens, both external and internal. Much of what shapes us lies outside our control, and over time the effort of holding everything together can become exhausting. Because our world is filled with tension and uncertainty, it’s natural to become reactive. Our minds learn ways of protecting us, trying to create safety, certainty, or relief. These strategies often make sense given what we’ve lived through, even when they begin to feel limiting or heavy over time.
While our minds and bodies do the important work of learning, engaging, and trying to protect us, they often lead us down a path where we are caught in familiar, rigid patterns of thinking, reacting, and relating. And though we want more ease or freedom, we’re unsure of how to make that happen. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, to understand these patterns with care, and to begin relating to your inner life in a way that feels more open and supportive.
When we’re seeking help and looking for safety in this world, it’s hard to see the path ahead. I believe that the search for a new way forward is one of the most powerful moments in a person’s life. Eventually the burdens we carry are just too heavy and we need to put them down. Together, we can work to do just that. Along the way, we’ll meet life as it is and work with experiences as they arise.
As your therapist, whether you are engaging in individual therapy, couple therapy, or family therapy, I’m here to meet you where you stand in life and help you find your own path. I offer a grounded, compassionate presence and a space where you can show up exactly as you are. My stance is rooted in a collaborative relationship where we work together to help you move forward step by step. I work with adult and children individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns and life circumstances. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe a person’s problems don’t live inside of them, but in the relationships around them. In my work I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and systemic therapies.
Our work is about meeting the messiness of life with clarity and care and supporting you in your journey toward living the life you want to live. Together we will create a refuge that ultimately leads toward you becoming a refuge for yourself. This work unfolds gradually, at a pace that respects your experience. Progress doesn’t move in a straight line, and it doesn’t need to. Over time, a steadier sense of trust in yourself can begin to emerge. If you’re ready to embark on this brave journey, I invite you to reach out; I look forward to working together.
